Don DePaoli, pastry chef extraordinaire, has been an exemplary employee and dear friend to everyone at Euphemia Haye Restaurant on Longboat Key, Florida. For years, he has created a most delicious display of desserts for guests and helped Chef Ray with his very popular Lesson Luncheons.
Nearly 20 years ago, Don faced a major scare when he found out he had been diagnosed with skin cancer. Doctors worked to remove the source of the cancer, and until recently, Don has been cancer free. Over this past summer, he found out that he has metastatic cancer that has attacked his brain and other major organs.
Through ongoing treatments, Don continues to arrive at work by 3:00AM, and create beautiful desserts for you and your families to enjoy. He has not let his health issues affect his work nor his attitude what so ever. Don is truly a force to be reckoned with, and we believe that we must do our part to help such a wonderful employee and person. As many of you know, the costs for treatments and medications are exceedingly high. Even with health insurance, his out of pocket expenses are exorbitant. Currently, Don pays an astounding amount of out of pocket expenses for ongoing treatment to cover medications and required testing.
After finding all of this out, we decided to take matters into our own hands and accept your gifts in house and through our website, ensuring that 100% of your gifts go directly to Don to help aid in his fight. Any amount is appreciated and we thank you for your support! Please share this page with your friends and family to spread the word even further and help us make a difference in this very special person’s life!
