FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 16, 2012
(Longboat Key, FL) This “scent-sational” press release will make you wish it were scratch-and-sniff! If you are in the mood for delectable and luxurious tastes, Chef Ray is delving into the new culinary trend of adding pure aromatic essences to food to transform simple dishes into something magical. To explore the connection between food and fragrance, Chef Ray has teamed up with Longboat Key’s fragrance maven, Lucy Miller of Lucy Miller Pure natural perfumes. Together, they have created a unique cooking class called “All Things Wonderful” that will take place at Euphemia Haye Restaurant on Wednesday, December 5th at 10:30 a.m. The flavors presented in this class will combine the ancient, the modern and the delicate exotics – with delicious tastes and pleasing aromas that turn everyday food into something exciting and indulgent.
Chef Ray is excited about presenting this class to students to offer something a little different. “I was really impressed with some of the pure essences that Lucy is working with…many that are used in the kitchen, like vanilla and coriander. So, I thought that if we combined our efforts, we could create some really spectacular tastes that would knock your socks off. These are not flavors that you would normally get in a small town.”
Lucy Miller was delighted to collaborate with Chef Ray to create recipes that were inspired by the chef essence oils. “I had just returned from California and my teacher, Mandy Aftel, had co-written a book with renowned Bay-area chef Daniel Patterson called Aroma, so I was inspired to try out some new recipes with Chef Ray,” says Miller. Together, they went into the kitchen and “played” a little to create some extraordinary dishes. Lucy says, “In my mind, I had some ideas and Chef Ray perfected them. Together, we came up with a menu that is just uber-aromatic. It’s a sensual journey for the taste buds!”
The “All Things Wonderful” cooking class will take you from champagne to shellfish to a decadent dessert finish. Chef Ray and Lucy will infuse each dish with the world’s purest aromatic oils – designed especially for use in the kitchen. For the first course, you’ll learn how to create aromatic Bellinis with a hint of exotic Ylang Ylang, served with Stone Crab Blinis (Russian pancakes) with a whisper of Pink Grapefruit and Neroli Blossom oil. For the second course, you will be served Grilled Diver’s Scallops and Shrimp on Creamy Polenta with Cumin and Saffron Essence Butter. For dessert, top it off with a gorgeous Honey and Lavender Absolute-infused Vanilla Ice Cream and your aromatic journey will be complete.
