Tap into “Tapas Tuesday” Wine Tasting & Tapas Party at Euphemia Haye’s Haye Loft
(Longboat Key, FL) Euphemia Haye’s Executive Chef and Owner Ray Arpke introduces an exciting new Tapas menu that is now available in the Haye Loft, Euphemia Haye’s upstairs lounge and bar. “I wanted to find something new for the bar side. These are simple small dishes that you can share with friends. They are the perfect bar food…and much more interesting than a bowl of peanuts!” To kick off the new menu, Chef Ray is throwing a “Tapas Tuesday” tapas and wine tasting party on Tuesday, November 29th from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. For $20, guests will have a chance to sample the new tapas menu and taste select Spanish wines.
Chef Ray’s new Tapas menu was inspired by his recent trip to Spain where he and his wife D’Arcy were the culinary hosts of the Sarasota-Manatee Originals Silversea Cruise from Barcelona to Lisbon. “When we were in Spain, we ate tapas as one of our meals every day. I liked how simple and fairly inexpensive they are.” Guests can now experience authentic Spanish tapas on the regular Haye Loft menu from $3 – $11. Chef Ray wanted to make sure that he retains the low price-point and their simple elegance where ingredients are the stars. “These are simple dishes that don’t take a lot of handling time in the kitchen. In true Spanish style, there are no extra garnishes on the plate; we focus on the food. We think our guests will enjoy these quick, authentic bites.”
The new Tapas that are featured in the Haye Loft lounge include: Tomato Bread (Grilled Bread rubbed with Olive Oil, fresh Garlic and raw Tomatoes), Asparagus Romesco, (Grilled Asparagus served in a slightly Spicy Red Pepper, Tomato and Garlic Sauce), Vegetables Romesco, Manchego Cheese, Iberian Ham, Exotic Olive Mix and White Anchovies served with cracked pepper and grilled toast. The anchovies have become a new favorite of Chef Ray’s. “The white anchovies are just phenomenal,” he says. “What a surprise. They just pack a punch of flavor!” D’Arcy Arpke, co-owner and Business Operations Director of Euphemia Haye was also pleasantly surprised by the anchovies. “They are something I never thought I would find myself eating…unless they were pulverized in a Caesar Salad dressing! But I like these; they’re tasty, very meaty. Much different than I expected.” To accompany the tapas menu, the Haye Loft bar includes several outstanding Spanish wines.
The “Tapas Tuesday” kick-off party will take place on Tuesday, November 29 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. and will allow guests to sample the new tapas menu. For $20, guests will be offered samples of all of the tapas on the menu, plus, a sampling of Spanish wines presented by Robert Schafer of Classical Wines from Spain. Robert is considered the leading Spanish wine authority on the Gulf coast and he will be bringing the following wines to delight everyone’s palettes: from Cava (sparkling wine) to Albarinos and Vereejo (whites) to Tempernillos and Granacha (reds) and Don Pedro Ximenez (sweet red). Guests may purchase any of selected wines by the bottle or case at a discounted price. The Tapas Tuesday party is by pre-paid reservations only, so call now to book one of the 34 spots available.
The Tapas menu is currently available upstairs in the Haye Loft lounge from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. nightly.
