In 1975, Euphemia Haye first opened its doors, founded by Leslie R. Butin in loving tribute to his grandmother, Euphemia Haye. She was the heart of his inspiration—a woman who instilled in Les a passion for food, travel, and genuine hospitality. The restaurant was created to reflect the warmth and charm of her home: a place where everyone feels welcome, and every meal is memorable.
In 1980, Chef Raymond and D’Arcy Arpke purchased Euphemia Haye from Les and brought their own vision to life—one that honored his legacy while elevating the experience. Over the course of 45 incredible years, they expanded the restaurant, adding the Haye Loft, and turned Euphemia Haye into a culinary destination renowned for its quality, creativity, and character. A highly accredited chef, Chef Ray led the kitchen with extraordinary talent, passion, and dedication, while D’Arcy brought warmth, hospitality, and heart to every guest experience.
Their leadership helped define what Euphemia Haye has become: a place where unforgettable meals are matched by gracious service and a welcoming atmosphere.
Today, under new ownership, we are proud and humbled to continue this remarkable legacy. We’ve remained dedicated to the high standards of culinary excellence and impeccable service established by those before us, while introducing new touches inspired by our own love of food and hospitality.

The Lounge
The Haye Loft was formerly the apartment of the restaurant’s original owner, so when designing the lounge, we gave it a swanky “bachelor pad” style. Whether you cozy up to the dark maple bar or enjoy your drink on our tropical terrace, you may just want to stay for the entire evening. With a full bar including top-shelf liquors and wines by the glass or bottle, the Lounge is the place to be on Longboat Key!
The Dessert Room
Voted best desserts by every local magazine and newspaper more times than we can count, but that only tells a part of the story. The dessert room is popular with locals and visitors who want to enjoy our fine fare in a more casual environment. Plus, full view of our desserts - all made fresh daily by our outstanding pastry chef! Reservations are not accepted in the Dessert Room, so walk on in!
